Are you sitting correctly!?
Have you ever taken time to think about your sitting position? As you are looking at office chairs, or your own chairs in your living room, there are a few things to consider.
First, if you sit all the way back in the chair, do your feet touch the floor? They need to be well-supported. If not, the chair is probably too big or too high for you. This can lead to pain in your lower back or legs because they aren’t supported.
There a couple of things that might help:
1) try a lower chair,
2) put a pillow behind your back, so you sit a little more forward but are still supported,
3) or put your feet on a stool.
Another problem to watch out for is that when you sit back in the chair, are your knees higher than your hips? If they are, the chair is probably too small for you, which puts a lot of stress on your lower back. Try raising the chair, or sit on pillows so that you are higher, and your hips are level or slightly higher than your knees.
Remember, we sit in these positions for hours and hours each week. It's crucial your body is properly aligned and you're taking time to #getupandmove
